April 2014

Covered California open enrollment for 2014 has ended. If you missed the opportunity to enroll, open enrollment for the 2015 coverage year will begin this fall. Small businesses can sign up year-round through Covered California's SHOP Program.

Medi-Cal enrollment continues year-round, and is especially important for former foster youth, who are now eligible for free coverage until age 26. Check out Coveredtil26 for more information.

You may still qualify for Medi-Cal or have a qualifying life event that makes you eligible for coverage through a special-enrollment period.

Parkinson's Onset, Detection and New Treatments

Each year 60,000 people are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease -- a chronic progressive neurologic disorder characterized by the slow degeneration of nerve cells in the part of the brain that controls movement. As the 14th leading cause of death in the United States, we must band together to work towards finding a cure. Parkinson's affects about 50 percent more men than women and the average age of onset is 60, though that rate increases significantly with age.
